Please circulate details of this vacancy to potential applicants in your networks. *************** *Fully funded PhD studentship, CHEurope Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action Trainee (ESR2) - Ref:1648904 “Climate Change and the Future of European Heritage”* The UCL Institute of Archaeology is looking to appoint a PhD candidate to work on the ESR2 "Climate change and the Future of European heritage" project, as part of the CHEurope “Critical Heritage Studies and the Future of Europe” international doctoral training programme. The successful applicant will work towards becoming a qualified Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action Trainee (EU Early Stage Researcher) and will be offered a place on the PhD programme at the UCL Institute of Archaeology. This comparative project will explore responses to climate change, in relation to specific national and international initiatives across natural and cultural heritage management agencies which attempt to engage with issues raised by climate change and future ecological forecasting, comparing and exploring ways in which they might be better integrated. Applicants should show how they would approach this specific project as part of their application materials. The role is offered within the salary range of £28,986 to £35,981 per annum (depending on fellow circumstances) and is available immediately. This full time post is funded for up to 36 months, but not extending beyond the project end date of 31 October 2020. Key requirements: To be considered eligible for this role, applicants must have less than four years research experience and not yet have been awarded a doctoral degree. Candidates should not have spent more than 12 months in the United Kingdom in the 3 years immediately prior to the recruitment date and must hold a Master's degree with an overall grade of 70% or better, with at least 70% for the dissertation, in Archaeology, Anthropology, Geography, Heritage or Museum Studies (or in an equivalent field). PLEASE NOTE that the ESR Fellowships only cover the fee levels for EU citizens, not those for students from outside the EU. The closing date is 21 June 2017. The “CHEurope” project is a PhD training program supported by the EU under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) - Innovative Training Networks (ITN). The CHEurope project funds a total of 15 ESR positions and is the result of a collaboration between universities and heritage institutions in Sweden, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Belgium and Italy. CHEurope focuses on developing a new integrated theoretical and methodological framework to enhance the academic and professional training and open future job opportunities in cultural heritage preservation, management and promotion. Bringing together a network of key European academic and non-academic organisations, the project will explore the processes by which heritage is ‘assembled’ through practice-based research in partner institutions that connect students to their future job markets and publics.
