My Norwich landfill produced a large supply of 1950s pornography which I am led to believe was still legible!

I dug up a pile of paperwork in a 1950s landfill, cheque book in pristine condition and legible newspapers!

My understanding is that "chemical manure" is simply an old fashioned name for fertiliser. I would look at the DoE Industry profile.

All sorts of stuff could have been used, including South American guano, bone meal, urea...

I would be wary of suggestions that the contaminants might have dissipated since 1951. The only way to confirm this will be by intrusive investigation, sampling and testing.

Hi All

I am preparing a desk study for a rural site in Suffolk.  Land immediately adjacent to the site is annotated to be a chemical manure works from before 1851 to 1951.  Does anyone know what type of activities would have occurred so I can determine the typical contaminants.
