I am with David on this one.
With the passing of 66 years you may find the accumulation of heavy metals but the rest
Is likely to have rotted/washed away.

Phil,
Noting that the land-use ceased in 1951(?) I doubt you will find much at all?

Hi Phil - you should definitely include carbon dioxide, methane and hydrogen sulphide, which are standard vapours/gases produced by any manure, and are frequently residual below ground. I'm not familiar with chemical manure works though, so will be interested to hear others' responses.

Regards, Sarah

Hi All

I am preparing a desk study for a rural site in Suffolk. Land immediately adjacent to the site is annotated to be a chemical manure works from before 1851 to 1951. Does anyone know what type of activities would have occurred so I can determine the typical contaminants.

Regards

Phil Miles
