Editorship Opportunity from the
Journal of Children’s Services
Emerald Group Publishing is inviting applications for a new editor or group of editors to lead the Journal of Children’s Services (www.emeraldinsight.com/journal/jcs)
from Summer 2017.
Journal Scope
Journal of Children’s Services (JCS) encourages the international development of research-based, outcome-focused services to better safeguard and promote the well-being of children and their families.
JCS improves understanding of the way that child development and applied social research can contribute to the evidence-base and increasing integration of children’s services. This includes activity organised by health, education, social care, police, youth
justice and voluntary/independent agencies.
The journal's peer-reviewed coverage includes:
• child development research and its implications
• methodological issues and their application to practice
• evaluation of innovative services, using quantitative and qualitative methods
• applied research, such as assessment, information-sharing, multi-agency working and prevention
• social, economic, cultural and political analysis of child well-being and children’s services
• critical discussion of the conceptual frameworks that inform service provision
• promotion of initiatives to forge stronger links between research, policy and practice.
Qualities Required
Some of the key qualities sought for the position of Editor are:
• an established record of scholarship in the field
• previous experience in an editorial role (i.e. journals, special issues, book volumes)
• managerial skills to oversee the editorial cycle and meet deadlines
• a willingness to work closely and collaboratively with the journal Publisher
• the ability to inspire an active Editorial Advisory Board
• along with an appreciation of the journal’s editorial objective to publish high quality research.
Call for Special Issue Proposals
The Journal also invites proposals for special issues on all topics related to children’s services.
The aim of a special issue is to assemble a collection of work on areas that deserve critical thought and special attention. The topics should be relevant to the journal, interesting and timely.
