Livingmaps , in association with the Walking Artists Network is organising a critical artwalk along the public sculpture trail known as The Line ( www.the-<http://www.the-/> line.org). We want to use the walk to address the role which public art plays in rebranding an area for cultural consumption , and explore how this links to the dominant, neo-liberal, narrative of urban regeneration, specifically in relation to London’s Docklands . In two guided tours we’ll be taking the Line for a walk, without necessarily toeing it, and together with those participating will ask: If these sculptures are place-makers for a new London, what kind of city do they speak for?

The walks will be led by two well known East London community artists/ activists, Alberto Duman and Blake Morris who will create a framework for discussion and debate around particular artworks including sculptures by Damien Hirst, Anthony Gormley ,Eduardo Paolozzi ,Abigail Fallis and many more.

So If you are interested in public art, in contemporary urbanism , in London’s Docklands , or just want a congenial Sunday stroll around one of the city’s most striking land and waterscapes , then this event is for you.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TICKET ENTITLES YOU TO TAKE PART IN BOTH MORNING AND AFTERNOON WALKS. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE LUNCH OR THE TRIP ON THE EMIRATES CABLE CAR (3.40 ADULT SINGLE) .
