We are currently recruiting for a new full-time permanent post in the sociology of gender at the Department of Social Science, UCL. The deadline is 18th May.



The Department of Social Science (DSS) is one of the largest centres of multi-disciplinary social science research and teaching in London, with more than 80 academic and research staff from a wide range of disciplines, including sociology, social policy, economics, psychology, demography and anthropology. It is home to five research centres, two undergraduate degrees, four masters' programmes and a thriving doctoral community.



This vacancy is for a Lecturer in the Sociology of Gender to teach on the BSc Social Sciences and BSc Social Sciences with Quantitative Methods. The post will be based in the Thomas Coram Research Unit.



Applications are invited for a full-time permanent Lectureship in the Sociology of Gender. The successful candidate will lead two second year modules on the BSc Social Sciences and the BSc Social Sciences with Quantitative Methods: Sociology of Gender and Qualitative Research Methods and undertake research in their specialist area. Additional duties will include: tutorials to undergraduate and postgraduate students; the provision of pastoral care and support; setting and marking assessments; and the performance of various administrative tasks and roles.



The successful applicant will have a PhD in the sociology of gender or a related field and a strong academic background in the sociology of gender; excellent research skills in qualitative methods commonly used in social science; and experience of teaching in higher education. The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8.
