Principal Researcher in Applied Statistical Methodology & Reader in Statistics

Biomathematics & Statistics Scotland (BioSS) and the University of Edinburgh (UoE) School of Mathematics seek an applied statistician with a strong methodological background for a joint post (65% BioSS; 35% UoE) to pursue a portfolio of statistical research motivated by collaborations on emerging problems in biological, environmental, agricultural and/or socio-economic science. 

The post will be based in a stimulating working environment (located in adjacent accommodation within the James Clerk Maxwell Building at the King’s Buildings campus of the University of Edinburgh with a shared common room and excellent facilities) with extensive opportunities to develop collaborations with scientists in both the research institute and university sectors.

In addition to the pursuit of independent statistical research across the institutions, the successful applicant will lead the Statistical Methodology research theme in BioSS, engage in knowledge transfer activities including postgraduate supervision, and deliver and develop teaching at all levels.

The post-holder will have separate, but mutually dependent, contracts with each employing organisation.
