ENHR working group Collaborative Housing Call for papers - 2017 ENHR conference, Tirana 4-6 September 2017

For a second year since its creation, the ENHR working group Collaborative Housing will host a series of workshop sessions at the 2017 ENHR annual conference in Tirana. Papers focusing
on the following three main themes are particularly welcome:
a) The potential of collaborative models within the affordable housing sector: This sub-theme is related
to the overall topic of the ENHR conference in Tirana. Many urban and rural housing contexts are experiencing upward pressure on real-estate prices and more affordable housing needs to be developed to counterbalance this negative trend. Collaborative housing
models often include alternative and radical approaches to housing finance, such as to exclude their schemes from market speculation. Furthermore, the mobilisation of self-help resources and collective social capital can also have benefits in terms of housing
affordability. We feel that further research is needed to explore the relation between collaborative housing and affordability.
b) Conceptual and methodological approaches in collaborative housing research: With this sub-theme we encourage
further theoretical enquiry into the nature and characteristics of collaborative housing. W e invite contributions from different disciplinary backgrounds and welcome papers applying various theoretical perspectives to develop a better and more comprehensive
conceptual understanding of this phenomenon. What are useful methodological frameworks to analyse different aspects of collaborative housing in and across territorial contexts?
c) Types and forms of collaborative housing:
Finally, we want to encourage paper submissions that deal with developing typologies in the collaborative housing fields based on key dimensions such as tenure, core values, resident involvement, legal/organisational forms, actors etc.
The working group co-ordinators are looking forward to receiving your abstract by 1 April 2017. Abstracts should provide a clear idea of the research question, theoretical basis, methods
applied and contribution to existing knowledge in the field. Abstracts should be sent to
