The Annual VLV Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting 2016 will take place at lunchtime during the conference, hosted by Sir Tony Robinson.

We do hope you will be able to join us. You can book now - please go to VLV’s Website.

Colin Browne, Chairman of the VLV, said “Once again, we have put together a conference that addresses the concerns of our members as well as a range of issues of interest to a wider audience.

The Awards ceremony will give us the opportunity to recognise the excellence of so much of our broadcasting at a time of great change in the industry, and to pay tribute to some of the people who contribute so much to this achievement.”

Damian Collins MP, chairman of the Commons Select Committee for Culture, Media and Sport and Fran Unsworth, Director BBC World Service Group and Deputy Director of News and Current Affairs, are THE keynote speakers.

Journalist and author Mathew d’Ancona will be participating in a session on Alternative Facts and Post Truth Broadcasting, joining a panel that includes Jane Martinson, Head of Media at The Guardian and chaired by Roger Bolton of BBC Radio 4's Feedback programme. Matthew's book on the post truth era will be published in early May.

Tony Close, Director of Content Standards, Licensing and Enforcement at Ofcom will be discussing BBC regulation and accountability in the new Charter era, on a panel that includes Richard Ayre, who has just stepped down as a BBC Trustee as the new BBC Board comes into operation.
