Hi Fiona,
The Fife museums operate under the “On Fife” banner as apart of Fife Cultural Trust and have worked pretty hard to get control of their own web platform and
comms.
Worth a look

Subject: Exemplary local authorities?
Hello,
I'm looking for positive examples of local authorities that allow their museums (and/or libraries and/or other culture services) to operate relatively freely, with significant control over their own websites and communications, and some
scope to experiment with new technologies and platforms.
(This was an issue highlighted by the MA Museums Taskforce in February this year.)
Have you come across one?
Thanks in advance for any information or anecdotes you can share.
Fiona
