Our strength is our diverse and active membership covering all health and social sectors, and geographical areas in the UK. Members work for the health service, the academic sector, the independent sector, government departments, professional associations, charities and public libraries. Students with an interest in health and social care information are also welcome. Several HLG members live and work abroad.

UKSG are pleased to offer our popular introductory level course in Leeds on 7 June:

UKSG Introduction to E-Resources Today

Wednesday 7 June 2017

Hilton Leeds City, Leeds

Course summary
This one-day seminar aims to present a practical introductory overview of all aspects of e-resources management, encompassing e-journals, e-books and bibliographic and full-text databases.
The emphasis is on developing a sound basic understanding of the details of e-resources handling in order to promote efficient and informed working practices. A wide range of day-to-day issues will be covered, with time devoted to recognising and resolving the problems that can arise at the boundaries between publishers, intermediaries and libraries, and addressing business models such as open access. In addition, the seminar will provide a forum for a group discussion on the current issues and opportunities offered by e-books.
Delegates will be able to air and exchange views in the discussion session after each presentation.
