Lay Down Your Arms! On Peace in Europe

Acclaimed Austrian actress Maxi Blaha will perform her one-woman show Soul of Fire, described by the Sydney Morning Herald as ‘an elegant little play that gently and economically recreates the life and spirit of Bertha von Suttner, peace activist, writer and, in 1905, the first woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Austrian actress Maxi Blaha brings a restless intelligence to the role.’

The performance will be followed by a short talk by Daniel Laqua (Northumbria), a specialist in nineteenth- and twentieth-century history and European peace movements.
