The Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory, led by David Schnyer, Ph.D., at the Department of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin is hiring a research associate to assist with a study focused on neurocognitive changes associated with decision making in aging.
The Research Assistant will be responsible for the recruitment of healthy older adult participants from the community, the coordination and scheduling of participant visits, providing informed consent, administering and scoring neuropsychological testing, and engaging in collection and analysis of neuroimaging data. The Research Assistant will be tasked with: a) updating and maintaining a database of participant health information, b) establishing and maintaining professional correspondence with all current and prospective research participants, c) planning and executing research visits in concert with other lab members, d) collection and analysis of structural and functional MRI data.
Competitive applicants for this position will be patient, detail-oriented, professional, punctual, articulate, independent, personable and engaging. Recent graduates with a strong interest in cognitive neuroscience and aging research are preferred. Competitive applicants will have experience in three or more of the following areas: Neuroimaging, aging research, database management, neurosciences or psychology research, clinical research, or office administration. Due to requirements for neuropsychological testing administrators, applicants must speak English natively. A minimum 2 year commitment is expected.
Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field. Two years of experience in psychology, neuroscience research or related fields of research. Demonstrated attention to detail. Outstanding interpersonal communication.
