Hi Nerissa Roberts,

I have been using the ESOL Scotland Initial Assessment materials not only for IA, but as a starting point for a diagnostic – you can normally use the results not only to place learners but to generate an ILP.

You may have to change the place names to make them geographically relevant (I use it in London), but the tutor support materials are particularly good.

Subject: ESOL Diagnostics

Hi all,

We’re looking for an alternative ESOL Diagnostic to use in September instead of the SFL one we currently use. We find that the SFL version doesn’t really give us a true picture of skills at the levels and we’re sure we don’t need to invent the wheel and start from scratch with making our own!

Any advice/templates would really help.

Thanks

Kind Regards,
Nerissa Roberts
