Post Summary
The School of Natural Sciences, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in Human Geography for a period to cover research leave. The post has become available following the successful ERC award to Professor Martin Sokol of the Geography Discipline within the School of Natural Sciences. A strong track record in publication is expected and the appointee will be required to compete for national and international research funding. The appointee, whilst being based in Geography, will be expected to foster interdisciplinary, collaborative research and teaching and engage in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level with focus on modules in human geography, globalisation, research methods (including basic statistics) and geographical information systems (GIS). They will be enthusiastic to develop further their internationally recognised research profile and apply for research funding. The appointee will also undertake such administrative responsibilities as directed by the Head of School or their nominee: these will, however, be kept to a minimum during the first year of appointment. The post will be particularly suitable for candidates with economic geography, regional studies, development geography or geographies of globalisation backgrounds, but all candidates meeting the essential criteria are encouraged to apply.

Candidates wishing to discuss the post informally and in confidence should email:
Professor Fraser Mitchell, Head of School, [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
or Professor Padraig Carmody, Head of Geography, [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
