Subject: [BASEES-MEMBERS] New
Scotland-Russia: Cultural Encounters since 1900 website
Dear
BASEES members,
This
is to make you aware of a new website resource for those interested in
Scottish-Russian cultural encounters. It sounds absolutely fascinating, and you
are all warmly invited to investigate it using the link below:
http://www.scotland-russia.llc.ed.ac.uk/
Edinburgh University's new Scotland-Russia: Cultural Encounters since 1900 website, aimed at students, researchers and the general
public, provides a digital gateway to previously unavailable or dispersed
cultural materials dealing with Scottish-Russian relations.
The Archive is divided into five sections: Arts, Literature,
History & Politics, Resources and New Translations, and gathers
together an extensive array of texts, images,
websites, recordings and films. Highlights include a series of
specially commissioned translations of articles on Scotland from
pre-revolutionary and Soviet-era periodicals; a photographic exhibition of
Russian theatre in performance; portions of the BBC Radio Scotland documentary
about the Scots in Russia; specially digitised books; and a wide selection
of scholarly and primary texts dealing with Robert Burns, Arthur Conan
Doyle and other Scottish writers in Russia. The website will
continue to expand and is actively looking for more materials to display,
so please get in touch with Anna Vaninskaya ([log in to unmask]) with any suggestions or contributions.
Best wishes,
Muireann
