At UWE, we’re reviewing our hate incident reporting processes.

 

We believe that the current process is underused – partly because of the language of ‘hate incidents’ to describe the reporting. Students or staff may feel ‘hate’ to be too strong a word to describe a micro-aggression, and the police definition of ‘hate crime’ does not cover all protected characteristics.

 

What term do you use in your university reporting systems to describe equality-related bullying/harassment/other incidents?
