Dear Fred,

I have a note of a pointer to Catherine Madsen's article on the mailbase in May last year, when I intended to reply with a link to an illustrated Yiddish edition of Rikki-tikki-tavi from Ukraine, dating from 1924, and available from an American book-seller at about 200 dollars a page. Your message gives me a second opportunity.

It is still available, if you have $5000 to hand...

This does serve to emphasise why I have been building our collection of illustrated editions in other languages. Kipling's work has attracted some important artists.

Best regards,

John

I may have sent out a message about this before, so forgive me for the repetition. Here's a link to a well-illustrated essay on "Kipling in Yiddish".
