Dear List

The Information and Records Management Society (via IRMS Scotland), in partnership with the National Records of Scotland, the Scottish Council on Archives and the Digital Preservation Coalition, are delighted to announce a major free to attend workshop event.

On the 24th of May in Glasgow (the day after the IRMS Annual Conference finishes in the City), Frank Upward, Barbara Reed and Gillian Oliver of Monash University will be conducting a day workshop on their new recordkeeping informatics concept.

This is described by Barbara Read as

'a rethink of practical recordkeeping approaches for the digital era, based on two building blocks - continuum thinking and recordkeeping metadata, explored through three facets - information culture, access and business processes'

The day, which is the UK leg of a series of global workshops that the Group are holding on this topic, will explore the importance of continuum thinking, inter-disciplinarity and new ways of presenting recordkeeping metadata.  The day will start with an overview of the Continuum for those less familiar with the foundation concept behind informatics.

This event is in many ways a pop-up event in that it has come together literally over the past few weeks.  Accordingly, the final programme and event admin are still being finalised.

What we can say at this point is that the Event will be held at the spectacular Glasgow City Chambers and, for reasons of making it effective workshop,  attendance will be limited to 80 people.  We can also advise that lunch will be provided.

Booking will be on a first come first served basis via an Eventbrite booking link that will be released in around a fortnight.

Until that time, please make a date in your diary and if you have any queries, please direct these to either [log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask]

Regards
