Dear colleagues,

Please bring this announcement to potentially candidates in your groups.

A fully funded 4-year PhD studentship is now available for application at the Department of Chemistry, University of Leicester, UK.

You are invited to join in an internationally leading research group of NanoChemistry. Our research is based on superfluid helium droplets, the unique low-temperature, perturbation-free nano-reactors, to which molecules/atoms can be added and then aggregate into nanoparticles and/or nanowires. Unlike any conventional techniques, with helium droplets we have a very high degree of control over the growth of nanomaterials, and can fabricate novel materials with almost unlimited combination of materials. The potential applications will cover biomedical science, data storage, energy-efficient technologies and nanophotonics. In the recent years, we have received intensive support from the UK EPSRC, the Leverhulme Trust and the Royal Society, with a total fund of over £2M.

The PhD project will focus on the development of novel nanoparticles and nanowires for medical diagnosis and treatment.

Please be aware that the studentship is available for UK/EU citizens ONLY.

To apply please send your CV to Dr Shengfu Yang: [log in to unmask]
