medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture Having lived for some years in Italy, I would agree with Laura's advice to just turn up in person, but only as a last, desperate resort. Everything will depend on the capriciousness of the person you happen to meet on the day. He or she may charmingly enable everything you want and need, or on the other hand may have a one-word vocabulary (No!), perhaps used without even looking up. If it comes to this I would go armed with copies of your unanswered emails, faxes, letters, and so on. Documents seem to impress. Being pathetic may work. Being stubborn and calmly immovable may also work, but can backfire. If you strike an uncooperative official, he or she may give in if it seems less trouble to give you what you want than to make you go away.
