From: "Marzolph, Ulrich" <[log in to unmask]>

This is to share the sad news that yesterday, prominent Russian
Orientalist scholar Dr Olimpiada Scheglova passed away. Written by an
expert in the history of Persian lithographed books, Scheglova's
catalogues and books are indispensable for bibliographers and
researchers specializing in the history of printing and publishing in
Iran. Since Scheglova mainly published in Russian, her numerous
publications have probably not received the international attention they
deserve. Her English language publications include the following:

Lithograph Versions of Persian Manuscripts of Indian Manufacture in the
Nineteenth Century, Manuscripta Orientalia 5 (1999), pp. 12–22

The Repertoire of Books in Persian Published Lithographically in
Turkestan During 1883-1917, in History of Printing and Publishing in the
Languages and Countries of the Middle East, ed. Philip Sadgrove, Oxford:
Oxford UP, 2004, pp. 17-23

The following is the praise Scheglova received from Prof. Dr. Irina
Popova, director of the St. Petersburg Institute of Oriental
manuscripts, at the occassion of her jubilee in 2011 (copy-paste from

St Petersburg. Thanks to her highest professionalism, her catalogues can
be treated as precious sources of various information for scholars. She
issued more than 60 papers, including 6 monographs such as The Iranian
