UKeiG is pleased to announce a one-day course - Research Data Management (RDM) for Information Professionals - on May 17th 2017 - at CILIP headquarters in London. This course provides a practical and informative introduction to the role of librarians and information professionals in supporting RDM. Who should attend? Information professionals and librarians with an interest/responsibility for supporting research, especially RDM, or any professional wishing to keep their skills up to date in this important field. There is an increasing understanding that data collected during research needs to be managed more carefully. It is in researchers’ own interests to do so, and increasingly funders also mandate data planning. The scale, diversity and fragility of digital data make this challenging. Universities are beginning to develop a support infrastructure that will help improve research data management. Some libraries are already beginning to play a key role in defining and delivering this infrastructure. The course introduces the essential skills required by librarians and information professionals to support all stages of the research process. Andrew led the RDMRose Project, a Jisc funded initiative to produce taught and continuing professional development (CPD) learning materials in RDM tailored for information professionals. His research interests include virtual communities, social media and library responses to technology. He is the School’s Director of Learning and Teaching and coordinates Sheffield’s MSc in Digital Library Management.
