Here are some highlights of what’s new. LATEST NEWS Selected Publication: Taxes and Subsidies for Improving Diet and Population Health in Australia The study, published in Plos Medicine, demonstrates substantial effects of implementing a combination of food and beverage taxes and subsidies on improving diet and population health in Australia.
Selected Publication: Heart Attack Deaths More Likely at Christmas The paper, published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, reveals significantly higher risk of heart-related deaths over the Christmas holidays in New Zealand. The study was reported by many international media outlets and now has an Altmetrics score of 861.
Selected Publication: the Consistent Relationship between Glucose Control and Modelled Health Outcomes in People with T2DM The study, published in the journal PharmacoEconomics, indicated the consistent relationship between glucose control (HbA1c) and modelled health outcomes for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus through systematic review.
Selected Publication: On the Measurement of Socioeconomic Inequality of Health between Countries A publication entitled "On the Measurement of Socioeconomic Inequality of Health between Countries", recently published in the Journal of Economic Inequality, assesses measures for assessing changes in global health inequalities.
Dr Kim Dalziel awarded Harkness Fellowship Dr Kim Dalziel, Senior Research Fellow from the Health Economics Unit, has been awarded the Harkness Fellowship by the Commonwealth Fund. She will work with leading US experts to study health system supports for children with special health care needs.
Centre for Health Policy Visiting Health Economic Scholars Program A new initiative to support early career researcher to spend time working at Centre for Health Policy, University of Melbourne. The Program is now open to applicants.
More Health Economics Short Course Resources Now Available Online for Free Resources for three Health Economics short courses – Introduction to Cost-Effectiveness Analysis in Health, Incorporating Health Economics into Grant Proposals and Designing Economic Evaluation Alongside Clinical Studies are now available online.
