The Institute of Geography, Christian-Albrechts-University (CAU) Kiel invites applications for the position of *Postdoctoral Researcher* which is to be filled as soon as possible and is for a fixed term until 31 December 2021. The salary will be on the 100% TV-L 13 pay scale. The hours of work will be those of a full-time employee (currently 38.7 hours/week). There is a teaching commitment of 4 teaching periods (4 x 45 mins/weekly during semester). The holder of the position will be tasked to undertake research in the following areas as a member of the Social Dynamics in Coastal and Marine Areas Research Group: - ‘Human-environment relationships’, particularly in relation to climate change, climate change adaptation, coasts and oceans under conditions of global change - Collaboration in the “Future Ocean” research cluster - Independent research and publications in this field Candidates should have comprehensive knowledge in geography, cultural and social anthropology, social sciences or related disciplines and have specialist competence in the field of human-environment relationships. The postholder shall work towards gaining the German professorship qualification during this period. Your qualifications and skills: - A very good doctoral degree in geography, cultural and social anthropology, social sciences or related disciplines. - Specialisation and experience in the scientific investigation of human-environment relationships or social dynamics in coastal and marine areas. - Proven interest in and motivation for teaching. - Very good command of English. - Very good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
