If you are an Office 365 institution, the Forms app is quite good. It does allow branching and stores data in the EU, plus you can get students to log in first – therefore gathering usernames, etc.

For all the issues with O365, Forms is actually quite good if you don’t need the power of Qualtrics or BOS.

Kind regards,

Marcus

I like that idea … That said, I know that someone else was thinking along the lines of a Google Form, and the person doing it likes them!

Hi Emma,

Would group sign up work?

Best wishes,

Kristen

Subject: Gathering student Option Choices.

Hi
Our students have to do their option choices, are there any tools within the default Blackboard tools that would enable this??

I’ve looked at surveys (good, because it’s not set to score …; bad because it’s set to be anonymous & we need to know who chose what)
Tests have the opposite problem, you know who said what, but it wants to give them a score …

[Would be even better if you could have branching, so I could ask what year they’re in in the first instance; but that’s probably too difficult!]

I’ve quickly looked at the Enterprise Surveys, and see that I could remove the anonymity, but, as it’s designed to be system wide, it’s rather overkill for a single degree program (and, even were we to use it for all students, they’ve all got different options anyway!]

I’ve also looked at Bristol Online Surveys, which seems to be the best bet at present:
It’s got the branching …. BUT, it requires students to add in their name/ID, rather than automatically gathering it. [Though from the look of the BoS help files, we could prepopulate & email it to them, rather than using the VLE. Though, that relies on students using University email … ]
