Postdoctoral Fellowship in Old World Archaeobotany

The Department of Anthropology and Scripps Institute of Oceanography are currently advertising a position for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Old World Archaeobotany. The fellow will work in collaboration with Dr. d’Alpoim Guedes (UCSD Anthropology and Scripps Institute of Oceanography) and Dr. Steven Weber (Washington State University) to analyze material from Indus civilization sites at the newly established Paleoethnobotany Laboratory at UC San Diego. Applicants should demonstrate a strong familiarity with Old World plant remains as well as strong writing and quantitative skills. Applications from archaeobotanists specializing in any area of the old world will be considered, however individuals who specialize in South Asian archaeobotany are particularly welcome to apply.


This appointment also offers the possibility to be involved in cutting edge cross-disciplinary research in environmental archaeology and earth and planetary science.

 
The appointment will be for 12th months.

 
The successful candidate must have completed his/her PhD at the time of appointment.
