Hi

we have not had this issue at all and have clients going to Ghana in particular.

I wonder if you could issue a medical exemption certificate each trip?

Suggest you discuss with your YF licensing centre

Kind regards

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Yellow fever vaccinations

Hi

I have had a query today and wondered if anyone else has had the same issue and if so how you have dealt with it. Email from employee:

"The WHO has recently changed its guidance on Yellow Fever, they now say that the immunisation is good for life.  The problem is, the countries which we travel to are of a different opinion, referring back to the 10 year validity of the immunisation cards.

I am not alone in being threatened with a ‘local’ immunisation whilst travelling – as you can imagine this is quite daunting, especially in countries where English is not the native tongue, and we have no local representation i.e. Congo, E.G. Ghana to name but a few."

I have given the WHO advice and referred him back to the travel clinic, but they have been of no help as they have to follow the guidance. This must happen a lot and I know from doing a quick scan of travellers' blogs that it is something people are concerned about. I know it's not strictly OH, but I'm grateful for any advice or experiences.

Thanks

Kay
