Creative Conversations would like to invite students, graduates, practitioners and enthusiasts to attend an invaluable conversation about cinematography with Billy Williams OBE. Billy is an award winning cinematographer with a distinguished career in film. Best known for Women in Love (1969), On Golden Pond (1981), Sunday Bloody Sunday (1971) and the Oscar winning Gandhi (1982).

At just 14 years of age Billy began his career as an apprentice to his father, working on training films for the Ministry of Defence. From there he became an assistant cameraman with British Transport Films, making documentaries and developing his skills until he was given the opportunity to become a cameraman. Billy was 38 when he got his first big break with the feature film Billion Dollar Brain (1967) starring Michael Caine.

He will be sharing his wealth of knowledge in a special dialogue with accomplished cinematographer Ed Moore. The dialogue will be an exchange of views on the changing trends in the cinematography landscape. Both will discuss their personal working methods on set and how they feel the future of cinematography is evolving.

This event is part of the Creative Conversations series in the Department of Creative Professions and Digital Arts, University of Greenwich. Creative Conversations is a programme of events and research, investigating the transformative force of creativity.
