In case anyone was interested... The retraction notice is in British Journal of Nursing, 2007; Vol 16 No 15, p915. "Re: Dealey C, Duncan CP (2007) Patients' feelings about hand washing, MRSA status and patient information. British Journal of Nursing 16(1): 34-8 It has been brought to the attention of BJN that there was incorrect interpretation of statistical results in this article. Additionally, one of the statistical P-values has also been found to be wrong. Thus, any conclusions drawn from these results should be disregarded. In particular, the association between past admissions and anxiety was given as P=-0.046, history of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection and anxiety is given as P=0.01 and between badge wearing and anxiety P=-0.002. The correct conclusion that should have been drawn from these results is that there is NO association in all three cases. Additionally, the P-value given for the fi rst of these (P=-0.046) is incorrect. Due to the seriousness of these errors, BJN retracts this article in full.
