The University of Edinburgh (Institute of Geography) and National Library of Scotland have recently received AHRC funding, via the Scottish Cultural Heritage Consortium, for a collaborative Ph.D, focusing on the Stevenson civil engineering firm and their maps and plans. The studentship, which is full time and funded for 3.5 years, will begin in October 2017. During the course of the research, there will also be a six-month project, based in the National Library of Scotland, focusing on creating digital geographic access tools for the Stevenson maps and related archival resources.

Applications should be received by Friday 7 April.
