            FYI

When we reported the MyiLibrary / Shibboleth / Chrome security error problem to ProQuest, they initially gave us same response as Hannah at University of Surrey received - that "There are no plans to upgrade the MyiLibrary platform to stop the message appearing as the plan is to migrate MIL customers to Ebook Central."

I assume a lot of people have expressed displeasure at this - in the latest reply we have received from ProQuest, they have now advised "The Chrome issue has been raised as a high priority therefore, management and MiL IT developers are urgently looking at having the issue resolved. As soon as details are provided we will feed these out to customers affected."

            Hi,

A colleague has mentioned that she is also experiencing the same error message in Dawsonera when using Chrome. Has anyone else experienced this?

            Thanks.

            Hello all,

Yesterday all our MyIlibrary ebooks started displaying a security error message when accessed on Chrome.

“Your connection is not private. Attackers might be trying to steal your information from shib.ingramdigital.com (for example, passwords, messages or credit cards), NET:ERR_CERT_WEAK_SIGNATURE_ALGORITHIM”

According to Proquest, this is due to some authentication changes Google made recently that means if a site doesn’t have certain certificates, it throws up this warning. You can get round it by clicking Advanced and continue but obviously this is less than ideal as a lot of readers get stuck at the slightly scary looking warning page.

Proquest say they will not be making any further changes to their certificates as they are upgrading to a new platform (Ebook Central). However this leaves a large portion of our ebooks not working correctly on one of the most popular browsers. We also use this browser to order, quality check and other ebook related tasks.

Having had bad experiences when Proquest migrated the EBL and Ebrary books to the Ebook Central platform, we are not eager to rush them to make this step. Neither are we particularly pleased at having all the ebooks we bought through them, not work on one browser.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, have you found any solutions or received any compensation?

            Many thanks,

            Hannah
