From Dawn Kellett and Natasha Wodicka, apologies for cross-posting:

The February 28 deadline is fast approaching for submitting an abstract to the 2017 Geological Association of Canada-Mineralogical Association of Canada annual meeting that will be held in Kingston, Ontario, on May 14-18, 2017 (http://www.kingstongacmac.ca/).
We encourage you to submit an abstract to the special session:

The Metamorphic Architecture of Orogenic Belts
This session is a tribute to Becky Jamieson and her outstanding career contributions to geoscience through her field-based research on the metamorphic architecture of orogenic belts and the geodynamical drivers of heat and metamorphism during collision. This session will explore the links between crustal metamorphism, magmatism and the thermal and tectonic processes that control orogenesis. For example, several recent field-based studies have demonstrated that metamorphic field gradients preserved in orogens exhibit significant cryptic tectonic discontinuities marked by contrasting PTt path styles, timing, and other tectonometamorphic signatures. We invite contributions that investigate these and other complex interactions between metamorphism and tectonics in orogens using interdisciplinary and novel field-based, analytical, and/or numerical approaches. We also encourage general contributions exploring heat and metamorphism in collisional orogens, particularly those on which Becky has focused her career, including the Grenville, Appalachian, Caledonian, Trans-Hudson, and Himalayan orogens.

Keynote speakers:
Dr. Clare Warren of Open University, UK,
Dr. Aphrodite Indares of Memorial University, Canada
Dr. Mike Williams of the University of Massachusetts, US.

This session is sponsored by the Canadian Tectonics Group and the Precambrian Division, both affiliated with the Geological Association of Canada. Both divisions are offering student travel grants to attend the meeting. Priority will be given to students who are presenting talks or posters in sessions sponsored by these divisions, and who wish to attend a field trip offered as part of the conference. For more information, please refer to the Student Portal on the GAC 2017 website (http://www.kingstongacmac.ca/student-portal/), or contact the chairs for the Canadian Tectonics Group ([log in to unmask]<applewebdata:[log in to unmask]>) or Precambrian Division ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).
For further enquiries about the session, do not hesitate to contact us.
