Hi Dietsje,

I'm not sure I follow all the details but I'd suggest that you coded one EV per sentence, such that each sentence could have it's own response. Then at the 2nd level you'd use the COPEs for the 8th sentence in the 2x2 design. Does this make sense?

All the best,

Anderson

Hi all,

I hope anyone can help me with a task design issue.

We are planning to conduct a study on reading comprehension. Participants will read 10-sentence stories. The stories will be presented sentence by sentence, self-paced. The manipulation we're interested in is on the 8th sentence (2x2 design with 10 stories in each cell). There will be jitter between stories (around 7-14 sec), but unfortunately we cannot introduce jitter between sentences because it will disrupt the reading processes we're interested in.

We're planning to use a model with 6 task regressors (one regressor for sentence 1-7, one regressor for each condition on sentence 8, and one regressor for sentence 9-10).

Does this make sense? How big a problem is it that we cannot use jitter between the sentences? We're running a pilot scan next week, so all suggestions are welcome!

Thanks very much in advance,

best wishes,
