Hi Navot,

This looks generally fine, although the labels don't seem to match what the contrasts represent (e.g., for PewP-PewH and NewP-NewH, you'd want to reverse the signs, possibly the same for others).

The group-level design matrix can be a 1-sample t-test for each of these 13 contrasts.

For the F-test, only if you want a single test encompassing various of these, that is also two-tailed. I'd say it isn't necessary.

All the best,

Anderson

Hi all,
I apologies in advance this is a long one….
I have a 2X2X2 repeated measures ANOVA design, which I am trying to create the proper matrices for, both in 1st level and in group level, I would be very grateful for any help I can get on this.
The conditions are Scenario (Pain vs Neutral), regulation strategy (Reappraisal vs Empathic Watch) and facial expression (Happy vs Painful). I’m not interested at all in the all the possible contrasts.
What I have done so far was to run the first level with the following matrix
                                       EV1      EV2     EV3     EV4     EV5     EV6     EV7     EV8
PrH                                     1       0       0       0       0       0       0       0
PrP                                     0       1       0       0       0       0       0       0
PewP                            0       0       1       0       0       0       0       0
PewH                            0       0       0       1       0       0       0       0
NrH                                     0       0       0       0       1       0       0       0
NrP                                     0       0       0       0       0       1       0       0
NewH                            0       0       0       0       0       0       1       0
NewP                            0       0       0       0       0       0       0       1
PewP-PewH                       0       0       -1      1       0       0       0       0
PrP-PrH                        -1       1       0       0       0       0       0       0
(PewP-)-(PrP-PrH)                1      -1      -1      1       0       0       0       0
NewP-NewH                       0       0       0       0       0       0       -1      1
(PewP-)-(NewP-NewH)     0       0       -1      1       0       0       1       -1

I’m not sure how to set up the group level matrix, and the contrasts (especially the use of different weights that I saw often in Anderson’s replays). And finally should I use F tests (I’m not sure how this function of FSL is used)?
Thank you,

Navot
