Hello

I only recently discovered that as well as uploading marks to the Grade Centre, you can also upload comments, which will appear in the ‘Feedback to Learner’ box.

In case there’s anyone else who has missed this trick:

·         Full Grade Centre

·         Work Offline > Download

·         Tick Selected Column, and choose the Assignment

·         Tick ‘Include Comments for this Column’

·         Submit, then Download.

·         In Excel, enter marks, and enter feedback in the ‘Feedback to Learner’ column.

·         Save

·         Full Grade Centre

·         Work Offline > Upload

An academic who has been testing this has discovered an oddity: it doesn’t seem to work for students who have made multiple attempts to a Blackboard assignment.

For these students, the feedback is uploaded, but doesn’t get attached to any of the attempts. And the mark in your Excel file simply gets ignored.

This is not the case if you download / upload just the marks, without the additional Comments columns.

Has anyone found a workaround for this?

Is it functioning as designed do you think?

Also, if you happen to enter feedback for a student who has not submitted an attempt, this is visible – as far as I can see – only via Grade History. I can’t see any way to delete this ‘Feedback to Learner’. But equally, because it’s not associated with an attempt, I don’t think the student will ever be able to see it.

Again any additional insights on that  would be useful.

many thanks

Andy
