thanks for your answer, that's good to know. I guess it just makes it a bit complicated to use SPM with other toolboxes in the same Matlab session. One needs to start SPM first and if one forgets, one has to start the other toolboxes again. In my specific example, I'm trying to interface with the SUIT toolbox from within Lead-DBS. SUIT code seems to only work when SPM is actually open/running (and not just on the path). Thus, this only works when users have Lead-DBS and SPM open in parallel – and I can't simply start SPM from Lead-DBS since this would kill Lead-DBS :)

Not a big deal but it would be great to have a novel option to start SPM with suppressing this behavior.
