Meta-analysis 13-17 March 2017 Rewley House, 1 Wellington Square, Oxford, UK Register HERE https://www.conted.ox.ac.uk/courses/meta-analysis Basic and advanced statistical methods for meta-analysis The Meta-analysis module for health professionals is designed to provide an overview of different meta-analysis methods and common problems encountered with extracting data. Basic and advanced methods which can be used to combine data from various study types will be covered. There will be a strong emphasis on practical sessions during the week. Most of the teaching will be carried out using Stata software, but Review Manager (RevMan), and ‘R’ software packages will also be introduced. Topics covered will include standard methods for intervention comparisons, approaches which can be used for combining different summary measures, subgroup analyses, methods which can be used to investigate heterogeneity and meta-regression. In the second half of the week, advanced methods will be introduced including cumulative meta-analysis, diagnostic test accuracy meta-analysis (using both Stata and RevMan software), the basics of network meta-analysis using Stata software, and an introduction session to individual patient data meta-analysis. Datasets from different study types will be used during the course, though students will also have the opportunity to work with their own data if they wish using the software of their choice.
