Communications Manager (maternity cover)
Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Windmill Road, Oxford
Grade 7: £31,076 – £38,183 p.a.

We are seeking a Communications Manager within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) located at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford.

You will be responsible for managing the Department’s communications in order to strengthen information-sharing, both internally and externally, to raise awareness of the Department’s strategic aims and its achievements. You will also be responsible for the development and practical implementation of a departmental communications strategy that reflects the Department’s strategic aims and priorities. Other duties will include facilitating internal and external communications, serving as an advisor to senior members of the Department on communications strategy and message development, as well as advising researchers on working with the media and the public.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in communications, marketing, public health or a health-related scientific subject and have demonstrable experience working in the field of communications. You will also have proven success of working with different communication channels, including websites, social media tools and e-newsletters in order to deliver highly effective campaigns as well as having demonstrated ability to conceive, implement and evaluate successful communication strategies and activities. Strong organisational and project management skills are also essential. Experience of working in a Higher Education Institution and good knowledge of publication processes would also be an advantage.

This is a full-time fixed-term appointment (maternity cover) for 1 year.
