The annual ABSW Science Writers' Awards for Britain and Ireland supported
by Janssen Research and Development are now open for entry for work
completed in 2016.

New this year are an award for best student science journalist and the
extension of the news category to broadcast news.

The categories for 2017 are as follows:

The best feature

The best news item - now open to broadcast journalists

The best scripted/edited television programme or online video

The Royal Society Radio Prize (NB: A prize for the best scripted/edited
radio programme or podcast)

The best investigative journalism

The NUJ Stephen White Award for best communication and reporting of science
in a non science context.

The Dr Katharine Giles science blog award

The best newcomer award

The best student science journalist - new award for 2017
