Postdoctoral research associate

University of Leicester, UK - Department of Chemistry

Full-time, fixed-term position available for 2 years

We wish to appoint an excellent researcher to work on a project investigating weak interactions between molecules. This project will exploit the ability of superfluid helium nanodroplets to capture and cool molecules, whose interactions can then be probed using laser spectroscopy, and in particular IR spectroscopy. You will have a PhD or postdoctoral experience in some relevant aspect of experimental molecular spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, chemical dynamics or molecular physics. Familiarity with molecular beams and laser techniques is desirable. The successful candidate will develop their independent research skills in a cutting-edge area of chemical physics, as well as gaining a broader range of generic skills such as student supervision, grant proposal writing and some limited teaching opportunities (optional).

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Professor Andrew M. Ellis via [log in to unmask] or +44 (0) 116 252 2138.

The closing date for this post is midnight on 12 February 2017.

We anticipate that interviews will take place on 28 February 2017 (subject to change).
