Dear Eugene,

I think you’ll find Bonaventure’s Expositio evangelii secundum Lucam helpful. Five of the seven pairs appear there.

"In prima petitur perfecta noticia, sive sapientia in intellectu; in secunda, perfecta reverentia in affectu, in tertia, sufficientia in victu; in quarta indulgentia in reatu, in quinta, victoria in conflictu. Et in his quinque implicantur septem petitiones, ac per hoc septem virtutes, septem dona, septem beatitudines, et omnes petitiones.”

Bonaventura. Sancti Bonaventurae ex ordine minorum... Opera Sixti V. Pont. Max. jussu diligentissime emendata. Tomus VI.Pars. 1. ex typographia Joan. Baptistae Albritii Hier. F., 1754, p. 365

The pairs missing from Bonaventure are, in my opinion “perfecta obediencia in effectu” and “perfecta medicina in aduersitatum congressum"

Best luck with interpreting the treatise

Good afternoon,

I am working with a manuscript of a late medieval diagrammatic exposition of the Lord’s Prayer by Celestine prior and inquisitor Peter Zwicker (d. after 1404). The document is from Sankt Florian Stiftbibliothek (XI 96, fols. 298r-99r).

In addition to providing a brief gloss on the words “Pater” and “noster,” the exposition pairs 7 petitions of the prayer with other septenaries: deadly sins, sacraments, gifts of the Holy Spirit, beatitudes and rewards, as well as virtues (3 theological and 4 cardinal) and 7 spiritual and corporal gifts (vision, tension, fruition, agility, impassibility, clarity, and subtility). However, I cannot figure out the pairing of the very last set and I was wondering if anyone has any idea of what these might refer to.

The page in question is available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6CVAv9-JlNMQUx1NXdWN243NVU/view?usp=sharing

The first three terms in the third column (intellectus, affectus, effectus) seems to be referring to an established triad, but what about others? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best,

Eugene
