medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
From Augustine to Gregory I to Thomas Aquinas, it seems everybody who was anybody commented on the Book of Job. As far as I am able to tell, nobody ever disagreed with the idea that the testing Job underwent was 100% sufficient to determine, beyond all doubt, whether or not his righteousness was honest. Is it fair to say that these tests were universally considered as valid among Christians, Jews and Muslims or does anybody on the list know of any dissenting opinion?
