The current Economist magazine has a leader (http://www.economist.com/news/special-report/21714169-technological-change-demands-stronger-and-more-continuous-connections-between-education
) and a ‘Special Report’ on ‘Lifelong Learning’.
I can’t find a single mention of libraries in either. That’s food
for thought......
Is the irrelevance of libraries a reality? Is this poor
marketing by libraries? What impact has the SCL Learning offer had? http://goscl.com/universal-offers/learning-offer/
At the end of 2014 CILIP held an Executive Briefing on
“Re-imaging learning” ( http://www.cilip.org.uk/sites/default/files/Re-imagining%20Learning%20-%20Programme.pdf
) Lord Tope (then chair of the Libraries All-Party Parliamentary
Group) introduced the briefing. Is it true that libraries have made little
progress with this agenda? Where did the idea of the ‘People’s
University’ go?
