Hi All,

Until recently, to try to encourage users to return overdue items as swiftly as possible, we would bar users at 6 weeks overdue, invoice them at 8 weeks and bar their PC access at 12 weeks. The PC access barring would prevent them from access to their emails, VLE and other online resources. This usually meant a rapid return of our books.

However, we have decided that we shouldn’t be preventing students from access to their emails and online learning materials any longer.

I’m concerned that not blocking PC access will mean that students will not be in any rush to return their books (as invoicing them doesn’t seem to prompt them into action).

I just wondered how other Libraries  try to get overdue items returned and if you feel these methods work.

Many thanks in advance for your responses,

Louise
