NWIS is based in the dynamic and fast growing capital city of Cardiff. We host the NHS Wales e-Library for Health which is a national online resource funded by the Welsh Government. The online resource is aimed at effective healthcare delivery by providing relevant and timely information to support NHS Wales’s professionals. We are looking for candidates with a proven background in libraries and can understand the technical and practical aspects of electronic resources such as knowledge bases (eg Medline, CINAHL, Cochrane etc), e-journals and e-books. You will be required to contribute to and take an active role in the commissioning, development, implementation and on-going service improvement of the NHS Wales e-Library, maintain and update the NHS Wales’s e-Library intranet and internet sites. You will also act as a key point of contact, liaising and networking with the NHS Wales’s e-Library Service Board and external partners in promoting the range of nationally procured knowledge resources across Wales. You must have a good level of awareness and understanding of the online information services used by NHS staff in Wales across a range of health care settings, including the technical and practical requirements of the national systems which underpin these activities. You will be required to have proven IT skills and project management skills, and the ability to work on your own initiative and effectively prioritise your own workload in order to meet designated deadlines. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post.
