The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is accepting applications for a full-time lecturer in the German Program to begin in late August 2017.
The German Program offers a major and a minor in German and a summer study abroad program in Berlin. Successful candidates will have demonstrated a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching at all levels of German language and culture (from courses for pure beginners to the upper-level content courses) and will have had training in second language acquisition and/or language pedagogy. The Program seeks an outstanding teacher who is able to relate to and inspire undergraduate students and who is committed to co-curricular activities and curricular innovation. The candidate will also have an interest in participating in the department’s summer program in Berlin. Evidence of continued outstanding teaching and ongoing professional development is expected. Native or near-native fluency in German and English is required. Teaching load: three courses per semester. The appointment is a one-year appointment, which is renewable based on performance and departmental needs.
