We do CAE and FCE with 3 papers back to back and do not allow snack breaks, just loo breaks. They're already long enough on a Saturday morning! We are running Cambridge PET this year which clashes with our maths GCSE. The PET exam is 2.05 mins long, (Reading and Writing 1.30mins, Listening 35mins). The tutors have requested a 'loo and snack break' in between the Reading and Writing and Listening exams. They have to be supervised at all times and if we allow a snack break it means a separate room for the snack and extra staff when rooms and staff are already at a premium. In view of this I have suggested that they should be ok to cope with a loo break in between the exams but no snack break. I have also suggested that if we coach them now for this (they already do a 2 hr lesson) this will not be a surprise to them. I think it is completely reasonable for them to do this exam with just a loo break. I would be really grateful if you run these to let me know what you do regarding snack breaks? Many thanks in anticipation.
