I agree with Laila. With all respect, I’m not completely sure how this topic would be intrinsically motivating or useful for a class of ESOL learners. Moreover, the topic of the history of heterosexual marriage is perhaps inappropriate for classes of learners, some of whom that will have been persecuted for their sexuality, others that will have been forced into arranged marriages and many who are separated from their spouses or partners?

Thank you Nicholas ,

I downloaded the resources and found that they are very heteronormative, in 2017 in the U.K. , you could include gay and lesbian marriage and that some of the topics are more EFL than ESOL. I know you might respond that it you be part of the research but if this is used by homophobic practitioners (they do exist) then it will be totally excluded.

Before you can download the pack it asks for your email address. I assume this is a data gathering activity for future marketing purposes , I am not sure this is the purpose of this forum , but would have to check with the forum organiser.

I know you have been posting on here regularly and I've never commented before but with LGBT history month celebrating 50 years of legality in February , omitting gay and lesbian marriage in a lesson on wedding is such a missed opportunity I had to say something

Best wishes
