Sorry – very delayed response to this – just catching up with this group after the start of term.
At Huddersfield, we have MindView available on a site licence and it is well-received. We are currently having a drive on raising awareness.
I can honestly say that students just grin from ear to ear when I show them the capture feature and explain how they can use that to collate and analyse their reading.
I made a little video about it:

Hi Everyone
We also have a site license for Mindview for students and staff and a desktop shortcut is on most of the University’s computers in
our libraries and open access areas. I mention Mindview when I am giving talks to staff and students about the assistive technology available and give a quick overview of how to create a basic mindmap, adding branches, comments (including audio) and the project
management aspect.
Chester University has had the site license for a few years now and it does seem to me to be the product that DSA assessors recommend
to students more than others. Our study skills department also tries to get students to use them but it is unclear how much this software (or, indeed, any AT software) is actually used on University computers across all of our campuses.
When I’ve spoken to staff and students that actually use mindmaps, they do like Mindview. I think that it is good because you can
do so much with it and also has a link to a few tutorial videos from the startup page.
Have a great Christmas everyone !
Best regards, Pete.

Hi All
We have a Mindview site licence available to all students and staff. It is held in a Study Tools folder with other open source and licenced software. I provide training
for it. I find it most useful for students studying engineering, business, architecture, environment, computing etc mainly anyone who may require project planning capability.
I usually get positive feedback from students when they are introduced to computerised mind mapping applications.

Andrew
We regularly recommend DSA funding for Mindview, particularly for students who are studying Computing or Business related subjects.
The response we receive from students when the software is demonstrated is usually very positive as they see the advantage of having planning features such as timelines and gantt charts.
Kind regards
Jane

Dear All
I wondered if anyone else uses Mindview in a HEI setting?
I experienced resistance to change and was keen to gauge others experience and feedback.
Many thanks and merry Christmas
